Daya Dissanayake

Date of birth - March 8th, 1947

Student of History and Religion. Bilingual writer. Won the SAARC Literary Award 2013. Won the Sri Lanka State Literary Award for the Best English Novel, novels for three out of six novels published in print in Sri Lanka. Also shared the award for the first ever Swarna Pusthaka  for the Best Sinhala Novel. Published 11 novels in English and 6 novels in Sinhala. Translated two Sinhala books to English.

Published the First Asian e-novel in English and also the First Sinhala e-novel. Completed a critical study on emperor Ashoka. 

Presented 35 papers at International conferences on themes of History, Religion, Environment and literature, over the past 6 years.  Country Coordinator, International Conference on Buddhist Archaeology in China and South Asia. Foremer Coordinator in Sri Lanka for the Foundation of SAARC writers and Literature (FOSWAL).
