Bakshi was in Banking
Service associated with United Bank Of India which is now merged with Punjab
National Bank. As a member of the Editorial Board of “United”, House Journal of
UBI, he discharged his responsibility till retirement in 2014. Manas Bakshi, author of fifteen books of poems
published so far – besides his doctoral treatise – is a ‘major voice’ in the world
of Indo-English poetry today. Included in more than sixty anthologies published
from India and abroad, his poems have appeared in various noted publications in
India, U.S.A. Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand etc. Besides poetry, his
short stories too have earned due encomium. Dr. Bakshi is on the Editorial
Advisory Board of a number of journals of repute and has received several
laurels and accolades in recognition of his creative talent from many a
literary / academic organisation. Dr. Bakshi won the first prize in both
English short story and poem writing in the All India Competition organised by
United Bank of India, for its staff members, in 2003, He has been honoured with
the “Best Poet of 2003” Award by the Poets lnternational, Bangalore,
Bridge-in-Making Diamond Jubilee Award Kolkata, 2011, Rachana Sahitya Samman,
Chhattisgarh, 2016 and Best Award for his poem on Peace by the Poetry Society
of India, Gurugram, Haryana, 2017. International Sufi Centre, Bangalore
conferred ‘a citation of Brightest Honour on him in recognition of his
distinguished contribution to Indian English Poetry and for his pioneering
pursuits in influencing mankind towards Communal Harmony and Cosmic Humanism’
in September 2020. He is recipient of the prestigious Naji Naaman award, 2024
from Lebanon for his creative literary works – the latest book of his poems
being Dialogue At A Distance, Authors Press (2024).
