IT’S NOW OR NEVER
-
Syed Ali
Hamid (India)
It takes courage to say it’s now or
never
It is painful to realize it’s now or
never.
At the crossroads we weigh ‘to be or
not to be’
Procrastinate, afraid to decide it’s
now or never.
She oozed sex, emitted the scent of
desire, lust
Why the hell doesn’t he say, it’s now
or never?
Longing for solitude he waits at the
edge of sunset
Still he can’t walk away saying it’s
now or never.
He carries the burden of the past, of
his ancestors
Under the yoke, he can’t utter, it’s
now or never.
Poised at the edge of the precipice,
like Kierkegaard
Will he take the existential leap
saying it’s now or never?
Hamid thinks, writes, daydreams about
making a final choice
Till then, he often sings the Elvis
song, ‘it’s now or never’.
