A Love That Always Remains - Rachna Awana (India)

A LOVE THAT ALWAYS REMAINS

-         Rachna Awana (India)

An innocent girl fell in love one day,

And kept falling for him in every way.

She knew not loss, nor feared the cost,

For in his smile, the world was lost.

Each heartbeat echoed when he was near,

Her eyes lit up, her soul grew clear.

She felt he was her destined part,

A name engraved upon her heart.

Her world transformed in his embrace,

He taught her laughter, love, and grace.

She once knew only how to cry,

But now her spirit learned to fly.

The scent of her hair, her tender care,

Spoke of a bond beyond compare.

No words could measure how much they shared,

Two hearts in love, completely paired.

Together they bloomed, emotions soared,

They felt the joy true love affords.

No room for sorrow, grief, or fear —

Just dreams of a forever near.

But fate arrived with a cruel disguise,

A trusted friend fed her lover lies.

The distance grew without a cause,

And silence fell with heavy pause.

Still, she loved with all her soul,

And in her tears, he found his role.

He came back when the truth was seen,

Their love again turned evergreen.

Yet life had one more test in line,

Their love denied by caste and spine.

Society frowned, the parents swore,

That love like theirs would rise no more.

She was engaged against her will,

Her heart grew silent, her world stood still.

She couldn’t breathe without his name,

So chose a path that burned like flame.

She drank the poison in despair,

As love cried out mid suffocating air.

The family wept and changed their mind,

But time, once lost, is rarely kind.

They took her far, to hide the truth,

Deceived her heart, misled her youth.

A wedding planned, a cruel betrayal,

A love reduced to mournful tale.

She begged, she pleaded, called her man,

With folded hands and trembling span.

But he was gone, too broken now,

To fight against the world somehow.

He lost her once, and lost her still,

A void remained no time could fill.

Their paths diverged, they lived apart,

But carried love within their heart.

Though life went on with silent pain,

One thing in both did still remain—

Not the vows or marriage chains,

But a love that always remains.
