Dr. Vidya Hariharan works as an Assistant Professor in the department of English at SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce, in Mumbai. She has been teaching at various educational institutions in Mumbai and the USA since 1996. She has completed a Minor Research Project funded by the University of Mumbai in 2016 on “Soft-selling Imperialist Ideology”. For her doctoral thesis she has worked on the American novelist and short story writer Eudora Welty. She has published 24 research papers in peer-reviewed, refereed journals. Her areas of academic interest are ELT, Cultural Studies, Spatial theories and Postcolonial Studies. She is also a poet whose works have appeared in various Indian and international journals like Setu, Maintenant 19, Borderless and Pan Haiku Review. She was recently shortlisted for the Editor’s Choice Award for her haiku from “Under the Basho” in 2024. Her haiku has been published in the prestigious Red Moon Anthology in 2025.
