WHEN IMMORTALITY IS IN QUESTION
-
Manas Bakshi (India)
A hazy glass.
Everything,
everywhere appears transparency-starved .
Unending craze to look beyond,
Body curves in the glaring waves of hillocks
And the valley beneath
Full of sensuous thirst ---
Prayer to live long
For a hedonic taste of life
Even after the golden youth's extinct
Didn't fall flat,
Was blessed with some days more....
Wading through the viscous mud
Typical of life prolonged
With skimp physical urge
No more desirable
Felt also Tithonus,
Immortality decried then....
Living reverts aimless
To incessant, incoherent chirpings!
