The afternoon rain arrives.
A loud pitter patter
of falling heavy waterdrops.
No thunder.
No lightning.
The smell of water
on dry earth.
Memories of
paper boats set sailing
on drains skirting
our kampung homes.
Now I watch
alone
homebound.
An order keeps me
within these walls
in the company of
falling water from
the skies.
At a distance
a muezzin
calls the devotees
for Zohor prayers.
