the beginning
of
time
they’d
tell us
of
the millions
of
years
they
have
lived
and lived
as
testaments
to
earth
born
out of a mating
of
minerals
and
air
of
heat and cold
an
alchemy
that
shaped
them
into a forever
muteness
like
some humans
who
were
born
out of
flesh
and blood
often
love
and
passion
but
the alchemy
strayed
into
divisions
of
hate and fear
and
lost
amidst
the
quarries
of injustice
they
became
stones.
