APPARENT AND REAL - Manas Bakshi (India)

APPARENT AND REAL

-         Manas Bakshi (India)

Reading someone's mind-

It's easy to anticipate

Not easy to comprehend,

The fissures on the surface

Mark the difference

Between the firm and the delicate.

When in love

Mind's flying with the comforting wind,

When betrayed

It's a torn kite

Swirling in adverse breeze,

Barren land ready

To receive it;

Mind unread-

True love swears by

Neither logic not reason,

And to live down the memory

Of a lost face of love

Is to live with

A toothless smile

And without the thrill

Of a dove in flight.
