FAREWELL!
-
Kamani Jayasekera
(Sri Lanka)
We
were like sisters, twins
Though
not of the same womb
No
secrets between us,
Advice
sought and given
Telepathy
often at work
Hence
when I decided to leave
I
was reluctant to pronounce
My
decision, never dreaming
That
you might fall apart-
I
left without a farewell.
For
me it was a joke – to be
Attached
to a mere friend
So
much – we are but ships
That
pass in the night the
Less
attachment better result.
Though
adamant and sarcastic
In
moments of enjoying freedom
From
the fast track of life
I
ponder what loneliness
And
willful neglect might be.
How
terrible it might be to
Be
isolated and pray I may
Never
experience it – ever!
