SURVIVING
TACTICS
-
Kamani Jayasekera
(Sri Lanka)
The
Loner they called me
Behind
my back, I knew,
I
strode along the corridors
Of
vegetation of the jungle
Gaze
not exactly focused
Nor
is it roaming, listening
To
all but not concentrating
The
slow, steady steps as if
Measured
and determined
Irrespective
of the beating sun
And
occasional mighty rains
Stopping
at intervals, munching
Or
reaching out, yet the noise
or
the activity never disturbing
or
considered hostile - a part
of
the jungle activity. Nothing
less,
nothing more……
till
it reached a point of ‘no option’
just
a part of amiable co-existence
