ANTICIPATING A RENEWAL
-
Manas Bakshi (India)
Thorny shrub in a desert
Devoid of lustre
Attracts nobody,
None to blame --
Gardens in a megacity
Nourished to smile
At mystified vulgarity
Surging from
Heaped up sins of the past ;
There was no heaven here ,
A hell in secret is now looking up --
Nothing creamy to aspire for !
A few hours' journey called life
A few moments' stay called home ;
Between a dreary desert
And a flowery garden
It's again a make- shift tent
In a primitive jungle --
Modern man's back to begin with
Everything appearing unknown, aboriginal ...
Looks determined to disdain
The farrago of guilt- complex
And fake pride of being
His best creation.
